RSNA 2019: Image Examination with the Expert – Booth 2973

- By Jacqueline Wheeler

Every year, Direct Conversion invites guest speakers to our booth at RSNA to offer their expert insight into how photon counting technology can work in practice. This year, Prof. Dr. med Frauenfelder has joined us at 2973 to present:

Image Examination with the Expert: Photon Counting Breast CT Versus Other Breast Imaging Modalities – A Review of Select Clinical Cases

Professor Frauenfelder will be using the MeVis Online Academy™ for the clinical displays that will illustrate his demonstration.

Visitors will benefit from Professor Frauenfelder’s considerable depth of knowledge and experience as Deputy Director of the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Zurich (USZ), Operative Director of the Institute and member of the Division of Imaging. He also is an Associate Professor ad Personam of Chest Radiology at the University of Zurich.

After graduating in 1998, Professor Frauenfelder completed his training as a radiology specialist at Zurich University Hospital. During this time, he also worked for a year as a research fellow at the NCCR Co-Me Centre (Computer Aided and Image Guided Medical Interventions) at ETH Zurich. As a senior physician, Professor Frauenfelder specialised in thoracic radiology.

In addition to his work in chest imaging, Professor Frauenfelder works in the field of breast imaging. He was responsible for the installation of the first ABUS (automated 3D chest ultrasound) system from GE in Europe in 2016. He also played an active role in the introduction of the first spiral breast CT “nu:view” from Advanced Breast CT GmbH.

Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Frauenfelder is neither an employee nor consultant of Direct Conversion nor in any other commercial or non-commercial relationship with the company
