VIDEO: Photon Counting – “A Real Win for Cardiac CT,” says Todd Villines MD

WATCH this interview with Todd Villines MD, FACC, FAHA, MSCCT as he heralds a “new era in accuracy” with the use of photon counting X-ray detectors in CT.  Dave Fornell, editor of Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology Magazine,asks the questions.

Photon counting was picked up as a one of the trends at the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography 2020 (SCCT) virtual meeting, and here, Todd discusses the impressive “image quality, particularly in relation to stents” and calcium. He also explains why photon counting detectors enable “improved tissue visualisation”.

Todd Villines is the Julian Ruffin Beckwith Professor of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Virginia., editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cardiovascular CT (JCCT),  and former president of the SCCT.
