10 Reasons to Choose Direct Conversion #8

- By Pauline Brown

We think there are so many good reasons why you should work with us … we decided we had to share our ‘Top 10’

Here’s #8 – Innovative X-ray Tools

The XC-Cygnus Detector Test System enables rapidly checking of in-situ detectors for compliance with appropriate regulatory standards.

Standards compliance is a given across many industries. For example, welds are used to connect pipe lengths which can be as often as every 12m, with more at pipe branches on major pipelines, and these must be inspected on a regular basis.

It is crucial for weld inspectors to know that the equipment they are using is optimal, measuring at the performance levels appropriate. Often inspections take place at locations which may be far from urban centres. Being able to reliably test detector performance at the location prior to inspection is a game-changer.

The XC-Cygnus was designed and developed not only for testing performance, but for practicality. It is portable, easy to operate, capable of accepting numerous X-ray source types, and able to deliver test reports based on standard industry phantoms such as duplex or single wire or step.

By using this tool inspection service companies can speed up operations while still ensuring  optimal performance and industry-compliant equipment, saving time and money, and increasing trust and reliability in inspections systems.

This tool was developed primarily to support the use in field of the XC-Thor-FX10 detector which is often used to test in-field pipe weld for large oil and gas pipes stretching over many hundreds of kilometres often in remote territories.

The XC-Thor-FX10 is a go-to choice for inspection companies mainly due to the speed of image capture, the long lifetime of the detector technology, the robust housing, and the beneficial impact of increased efficiency.

Our products:

  • provide images at low dose
  • have a very high dynamic range which reveals more detail over a wide range of exposures
  • provide energy discrimination for separation and identification of materials
  • achieve images with minimal photons which leads to increased speed
  • integrate fast digital counting enabling better TDS images with less blur
  • deliver fast, noise-free read out
  • enable electronic scatter rejection
  • have no photon over-weighting
