Job Opportunity, Sweden: Research Engineer

Direct Conversion AB (publ) is developing and manufacturing next generation x-ray and gamma ray imaging devices. Our office is in Danderyd, Sweden, but we are operating worldwide. We have headquarters at Stockholm, and subsidiaries in Helsinki, London and Munich. Direct Conversion offers a dynamic, challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with unique state-of-the-art technology in X-ray imaging for medical and industrial applications.

Direct Conversion is part of the Varex Imaging Group, the world’s largest manufacturer of flat panel X-ray detectors.

We’re looking for a new member to expand our Research and Application team.

As a member of our small but talented and highly motivated team, you would contribute in research and creation of algorithms to support our detector development and sales. Our portfolio covers products including full-custom ASICs, FPGAs, embedded processors, high speed interfaces, analogue signal processing and power conversion.

We work with large data collection, up several 100 Gbit/s in contrast we also study, single pixels.

Main Responsibilities…

o   Research in imaging techniques and calibration techniques

o   Application support; test, demo, technical support of customers

o   Develop and work with verification of new detector prototypes

o   Characterization of sensor ASICs and new materials

o   Working with teams in London and Helsinki on projects that are group wide

Your skills…

o   Master or PhD in Physics, Mathematics or equal

o   Programming skills (Matlab, Python or C++)

o   Experience on development of linear and nonlinear signal/image processing algorithms, statistical data analysis

o   Good communication skills in English

Experiences we Desire

o   Hands-on attitude and willingness to collaborate closely with team members and customers.

o   An advantage is communication skills in Swedish and Finnish

The successful candidate will report to the Research & Application team lead. The job entails working for clients that are based abroad and as such, some foreign travel will be necessary.
